Baby "Bailey" quilt

Our nephew recently had a baby boy which was the perfect excuse to make a quilt. 

After recently making the Moda ABC quilt, I decided to make the letters to spell his name. 

Then added in a few larger fox blocks from the Fancy Fox II pattern by Elizabeth Hartman to make the quilt up to size.

I used the Serpentine stitch for quilting across the quilt about every 2 inches which was very quick and easy to do.

The backing is a printed drill which should make the quilt a bit more durable for use as a playmat.

And the binding is the black woodgrain print that I used in my original Fancy Fox quilt.

This quilt has been sent up to Bailey with his uncle, grandma and great-grandma who are visiting him for the first time.

Tula Pink "Pixel Perfect" quilt

A quilt that has been on my to-do list for a while is the Tula Pink "Pixel Perfect" quilt which was a pattern included with one of the early issues of Love Patchwork and Quilting magazine.

So when the Eden fabric was released last year, I decided to make a start on it as the animal prints were just what I needed for the blocks

I dug into my stash and pulled fabrics from many Tula lines - Prince Charming, Acacia, Bumble, Eden, Fox Field, Elizabeth, Moon Shine, The Birds and The Bees, and True Colours. 

The background fabric is a charcoal Prima solid which really makes the vibrant colours of the Tula prints pop!

The "A" blocks required a large square so they were perfect for fussy cutting the prints that I wanted to feature in the quilt.

I was still working on the blocks when Chipper was released so I couldn't resist sewing a few more with the Chipmunks and foxes.

When it was all done, I cleared as much space as I could on my loungeroom floor to lay out all of the blocks...

After much rearranging, I decided to go with a colour gradient as it seemed to work with the prints I had used.

For the backing, I bought some of the lovely Freefall in navy as I really loved the minty birds.

This 90" square quilt was then sent off to my LQS "Rainbow Patchwork" for Karen to quilt. 

To finish it all off, I used the mosaic print in Glacier from Eden for the binding, then on a glorious but windy day, we went for a drive to Nimbin (NSW) for some photos.  

This area is known as the "Rainbow Region" so it was only appropriate that I took my colourful Tula quilt here for a quilty photoshoot with the Nimbin Rocks in the background. 

And the finishing touch for the quilt was a label that the Tula herself signed when she was doing her trunk shows over here in Australia.

Foxy Loxy mini quilt

Last year I made a fox mini quilt for a swap and ever since have wanted to make another one.

So I chose some of my favourite prints from Carolyn Friedlander along with some charcoal shot cotton for the background.

 These foxes are a small version of the Fancy Fox quilt pattern by  Elizabeth Hartman.

 I cut all of the fabrics so that I could quickly chain piece them together...

And it didn't take long before I had them all pieced.

Then it was just some quick straight line quilting and binding in the ledger print from Architectures.

Fancy Forest baby quilt

After having made the Fancy Fox quilt recently, I really wanted to make another of Elizabeth Hartmans patterns, the Fancy Forest quilt.

This pattern incorporates the foxes, along with a few other blocks - hedgehogs, bunnies,  thistles...

 Allie Owl....

And Frances Firefly blocks.

I made the baby sized quilt using solids in shades of teal and aqua so that it could be suitable for a boy or girl.

The blocks were fairly easy to piece and then it was just a matter of deciding on the layout.

Then I quilted it using the Serpentine stitch which has given the quilt such a great texture.

And used some black and white woodgrain print fabric for the binding which is another favourite of mine:)

Scrappy HST Maker's Tote

Another project ticked off my Q2 FAL list is the Maker's Tote which is another lovely pattern by Anna @ Noodlehead designs.

I have used the leftover Bonnie and Camille HST trimmed from sewing my Spell it with Moda quilt letters (as well as a few from my Thirty Shades of Fox quilt) to join up for these panels. 

Then it was just a matter of adding some fabric to make the panel up to the required size.

The zip used is a separating one so that the tote opens right up for easy access and there are also a couple of pockets for storage.

I made a little EPP hexagon from some more fabric scraps to use for the zipper tab.

Spell it With Moda - ABC quilt

It has taken a while but my Bonnie and Camille "Spell It With Moda" ABC quilt is now done! 

Many of these letters are sewn using the name from the fabric range (eg. A= April Showers, B=Bliss, D=Daysail, H= Hello Darling, M=Marmalade, P= Vintage Picnic, R=Ruby, S= Scrumptious, V= Vintage Modern,) or a colour (L=lime, C= coral, O= orange, N=navy, Y= yellow), or something else associated with the letter (F= floral, T=text, U= Umbrella).

I chose to make a few of the Dwell blocks from Camille Roskelleys "Simplify" book for the filler blocks - one for each of my 3 children.

And for the quilting, I again used the Serpentine stitch on my sewing machine and did fairly dense quilting.

The backing is one of the Daysail prints and I used my favourite Sundae scallops in grey for the binding.

It has only just started to cool down here so I can't wait to use this quilt over these cooler Autumn months.
