Matilda Swoon quilt

The Matilda Swoon quilt is the second of the Swoon quilts mentioned in my previous post.
This one has a different backing fabric and I used the same aqua solid for the binding.
And it was also quilted in the same swirly pantograph design as the Melba swoon quilt.
Here are the two quilts side by side....sister quilts for my brothers two teenage daughters.
I really love how these have turned out and hope my nieces can enjoy them for years to come.
This project was on my FAL Q3 list for this year so linking up with the 2017 FAL team.

Melba Swoon quilt

Earlier this year I joined in the Swoonalong on Instagram and started making some Swoon blocks using a mix of Melba and Matilda fabric by Emma Jean Jansen.
By late January, I had 16 blocks sewn and then the weather got very hot here and I didn't feel like doing much sewing.
It is now winter here and I decided to sew a couple of extra blocks so that I could make 2 quilts, each of 9 blocks.
This is the first of the two quilts - it finished at about 62" square which is a nice lap quilt size.
This was quilted at my LQS, Rainbow Patchwork with a swirly design using a mid grey thread.
The pantograph shows up really well against the charcoal background fabric.
This quilt is a gift for my one of my nieces as she is about to finish high school.
Back soon with some photos of the second quilt made from these blocks....
This was on my FAL Q3 list for this year so linking up with the 2017 FAL team.

Proposed finishes for Q3 Finish-a-long

My plans for this quarter include some blocks which were sewn back in January that are finally getting made into quilts.
1. Star Bright baby quilt - using the Star Bright pattern by Kate Blakesley @ Swim Bike quilt.
 2. Forever Friends plus quilt - using the Plus quilt by Kelly at Jeliquilts.
3. Melba Swoon - the first of two similar quilts made from the swoon blocks sewn earlier this year is already at the quilters so only the binding to still be made and sewn on.
4. Matilda swoon - also at the quilters, and the binding is ready for this one.
5.Underwater quilt: fabrics are cut ready to sew ....
6.Legendary quilt: most supplies for this quilt were acquired whilst overseas recently so I am now ready to sew it all together.
7. Tula Pink Butterfly quilt: Joining in another sew-along hosted by Angie (Gnome Angel)and Nicole (Snips Snippets).
8. Beach Ripple crochet blanket: whilst it is still winter here I hope to be able to do some more crochet.
9.Cloud 9 Foxglove baby quilt: just sewing some simple strips for this quilt.
10. Swiss quilt: using some pretty minty/teal shades...
11. Crochet granny scarf: using a couple of the Cake Pop colour in the Caron Cakes yarn.
12. And finally, I decided to join in the 2017 Summer Trip around the world sew-along hosted by #myteaandbrie on IG. I am going to use some blue/green jelly roll strips and will add in more fabrics from my stash as needed.

Scraptastic Tuesday - Swoon scraps

One of my favourite quilt patterns is the Swoon quilt by Thimbleblossoms and I have already made quite a few projects using the original design and the Swoon mini quilt version...
And recently I made a cute cross stitched hoop neckace using a Quilty Stitches pattern by Corey @ Coriander quilts.
There are a couple of quilt alongs currently on IG - one hosted by Camille herself (#swoonalong),
And another by @mel_is_a_swapaholic (#swoonalong2017).
I am joining in to make the Swoon 16 pattern using a mix of Melba and Matilda fabric by Emma Jean Jansen with some coordinating solids and a charcoal background.
So far I have sewn 8 blocks and have been collecting the little HST scraps from the flipped corners.
Although these HST will only be about 1.5" after trimming, and finish at 1" once sewn, they can be used to make patchwork panels for other projects such as the Makers Tote I made last year.

Proposed list of finished for FAL Q1 2017

Another year has begun so I am ready for some new (and old) projects to make when I have days off from work - some of these are possibly longer term projects so if they don't get finished this quarter, I can roll them over into the next one.
1. Abstract Elephant quilt: This is a project carried over from last year, as I have only done 3/97 pieces...
2. AMH Painted Portrait dress: I had enough of this rayon leftover from another top to also make a dress and I really like this pattern for these hot summer days.
3. Baby Animals quilt: I have used this Plus pattern a few times already as it is such a quick one to make a cute baby quilt from.
4. Butterfly quilt by Tula Pink - I have been saving my Eden bundle for this to do a different version of this amazing quilt.
5.Cloud 9 Plus quilt: another baby quilt using an assortment of Cloud 9 organic fabrics.
6. Coastal ripples blanket: I may have to wait until it cools down a bit before taking this up again....
7. Colorway quilt: my Colorway quilt is quilted so only the binding to go - I couldn't go past the stripey B&W from Handmade.
8. Liberty Fancy Foxes quilt: I have always loved the original Fancy Fox quilt made using Liberty fabrics so am going to make a smaller sized quilt with these prints.
9. Matilda/Melba Swoon quilt: Joining in the Swoon quilt-along and using fabrics by Emma Jean Jansen.
10.Necessary Wallet Clutch (NCW) : I have some beautiful Art Gallery denim to use for the outside of this wallet.
11. Plus Squared quilt: I am cutting into my stash of August prints from Cotton and Steel to make this quilt.
12. Summerlove Swoon Sixteen: I also want to make another Swoon quilt using this bundle of Art Gallery "Summerlove" prints with the coral solid for the sashing.
13.Tula hexie quilt: I now have an acrylic template to use to cut the extra hexagons for the quilt.
14. World travel wallet: As we are going on an overseas trip this year, I need to make a passport wallet using this map fabric by Tim Holtz.
