My Q3 Finish A-Long list

For the third quarter of the Finish-A-Long, I have a few different projects on my to-do list...
1. Cakewalk quilt - using a scrappy mix of Bonnie & Camille prints with a charcoal shot cotton for the background.
2. Caravan tote: For my mothers birthday present which I need to finish up in time for the special day...
3. Coral crochet blanket: it is still winter here and I am enjoying doing crochet of an evening.
4. Elephant Abstractions quilt: all of the 97 paper pieces are cut out and I have made a start on the first 3 pieces of the trunk - just 94 more to go now....
5. Coastal Ripples: this is a project carried over from the last quarter using up some leftover yarn from other blankets.
6. Patchwork Swoon: I love the colours in "Canyon" by Kate Spain so have begun to make a Patchwork Swoon quilt using the pattern by Thimbleblossoms.
7. Bella Plus quilt: I started another baby quilt using the Plus quilt pattern by Kelly @ Jeliquilts. This time I have some Lotta Jansdotter "Bella" fabrics with some coordinating orange prints and a light grey background.
8. Dwell houses runner: This is a Christmas in July project using some Scandinavian Christmas prints.
9. One of Kristy @ Quiet Plays patterns that I have wanted to make for a while is the cute Koala from the Zoo series.
10. Indie bag: This is a cute bag design from Amy @ During Quiet Time made from one of my favourite fabric ranges, Indie by Pat Bravo. This has been a WiP for some time as I have the hand stitching to do still...

Dwell mini frame

My niece is building a house so I thought I would make her a little frame for her new home.
I used the mini Dwell pattern by Thimbleblossoms to make one of the little house blocks using some scraps of fabric leftover from the larger Dwell blocks in my Spell it with Moda quilt.
And was then able to put it into a shadow box frame which gives it a lovely 3D effect.
Hoping my niece can find a place for this in her new home.

"Ocean waves" crochet ripple throw

My niece and her partner are in the process of building a house so I thought I would make them a crochet throw as a house warming gift.
I chose her favourite colour of Teal then added in a lighter shade of Sage then some white for contrast.
The crochet pattern is the Neat Ripple pattern by Lucy at Attic 24.
For this throw I did 4 rows of each colour alternating with the Sage.
This was the perfect project to do on cold winter nights in my PJ's whilst watching TV.
There have been a few delays with their house-building but I have this ready for when the house is finally finished.
This was on my FAL Q2 list for this year so linking up with the 2016 FAL team.

Jungle Book baby quilt

This Plus quilt pattern by Kelly at Jeliquilts has become a favourite of mine.
It is such an easy quilt to sew up and there are so many cute fabrics that you can use to make a quick baby quilt!
This time, I used some fun Jungle themed prints which feature monkeys, elephants, lions, crocodiles and giraffes.
I chose a minty green solid for the background and also used it for the binding.
Basting these smaller quilts is so easy too - I can do them on the dining table rather than on the floor which is so much better for my knees!
I used a printed drill for the backing to make this a bit more sturdy if used as a playmat.
And again quilted it using the Serpentine stitch along the horizontal seam lines.
I already have plans to sew another one of these quilts ...

Pineapple pillow

After making "The Big Pineapple" quilt earlier this year, I had enough yellow and green scraps to make a matching pillow from the leftovers.
These pineapple blocks are so cute and were a great way to use up my stash of yellow and green fabrics.
Once it was all sewn together, I used my trusty Hera marker to mark the lines for quilting.
And like for the Pineapple quilt, I again did cross-hatch quilting on this pillow so they match.
The backing is a bright and colourful orange pineapple print.
And then some lime green binding to finish it off.
