"Melba" Caravan Tote

My first finish for 2018 is a CaravanTote as a thank you gift for a friend  who organised our wonderful holiday down to Melbourne.

I have already made a few of these totes as it is such great bag pattern by Anna Graham @ Noodlehead.

This time I used some fabrics by Emma Jean Jansen to celebrate our trip down to Melbourne for the Australian Open tennis.

The tram, magpie, banksia and suburbs prints are all from the Melba range along with the grey leaf print from one of the wide backing fabrics.

Hopefully this tote will remind her of our few days in Melbourne where we had a lovely time watching tennis, exploring new eateries, and also doing quite a bit of shopping.

Q1 2018 Finish-A-Long

For this first quarter of 2018, I am rolling over quite a few unfinished projects from last quarter as well as a few new projects...

1. Tula Pink - Hurray for Hexies EPP quilt: I have sewn most of the hexies in sets so now need to join them all together...

2.Rainbow ripple crochet blanket: Making for a friend who is expecting her first grandchild soon....

3. Nessie quilt: can't wait to make this cute quilt using the pattern by Elizabeth Hartman 

4. Raggy flannel quilt: using some pretty pinks and greys for a cuddly quilt.

5. Star Bright baby quilt - using the Star Bright pattern by Kate Blakesley @ Swim Bike quilt: quilt top is made so just needs quilting and binding.

6. Swiss mint quilt: Using the Swiss pattern by Thimbleblossoms along with some pretty teal/minty fabrics...

7. Virus shawl: I have already used 2 balls of Bouvardia yarn but may need at least one more to make this shawl a bit bigger....

 8. "Fabled" elephant quilt using some beautiful Art Gallery fabrics: quilt top is done so just needs binding.

9. AMH Painted Portrait blouse: I started this when I was trying to figure out how to sew the yoke lining part so I need to finish it - the fabric is a Cloud 9 poplin "Wild Strawberry" from Garden Secrets by Sarah Watson.

10.Baby flannel quilt: this is the quilt top made from the remaining blocks from the Foxy Flannel quilt so it just needs to be basted, quilted and bound.

 11. Outlander quilt - this is a panel that I need to add borders to make it into a more useable size. 

12. And another AMH Painted Portrait Blouse using some cotton lawn.

13. Caravan Tote: a gift for a friend using some Melba fabrics.

Finishes for Q4 of the Finishalong.

Although it is quite busy this time of year, I managed to get  8/15 finishes done this quarter which I am quite happy with!

1. AMH Painted Portrait dress: done!

6. Nessie quilt: no progress.

13. Tula Pink - Hurray for Hexies EPP quilt: I have made a few of the rosettes...

14. Tula Pink Sugar skulls pillow: done!

15. Virus shawl: No further progress.

Crochet Christmas Bunting

Before the holidays, I found some sparkly yarn and thought I would make a nice crochet bunting for Christmas.

I used the Granny Bunting triangles tutorial by Lucy @Attic24 to make the triangles.

I was able to make some of the triangles each evening and before long had quite a few ready to string together.

I ended up using most of the yarn to make a few long strings of sparkly bunting that I will be able to use each year to decorate for Christmas..

Flannel Fox quilt

This quilt began back in September when Moda had a National Sew a Jelly Roll day.

I found a cute flannel Jelly Roll with some foxes,bears and owls and added in a few more solid flannel fabrics.

The tutorial I used was the Two x Four block by Ashley @ Film in the Fridge which I modified to use the Jelly roll strips.

It didnt take very long to make enough blocks for a baby quilt and I even have enough leftover to make another one.

My blocks were 8 x 10" so the quilt finished at about 30 x 32".

I quilted it in wavy lines along the seams and backed it in a dotty charcoal flannel to keep it soft and cuddly.
