Finish-along goals for Q2 2019.

Now that the weather is cooling down, I have quite a few things I am hoping to finish in this quarter...

 1. Gypsy Wife quilt: Most of the blocks are now made for this quilt so just need to put it all together and hopefully even get it quilted!

2. Nessie baby quilt: a cute pattern by Elizabeth Hartman which I am using for a baby quilt.

3. Heartland crochet blanket: I have used a couple of the balls of yarn but have quite a few to go...

4. Tula Pink Hurray for Hexies quilt: most of the hexagons are sewn together...

5. Corner to corner crochet baby blanket: about halfway there on this blanket...

6. Safari Meadowland quilt: I have made the blocks for the quilt top and just need to get it quilted...

7. End Game mini quilt: Just need to decide on how to finish this one...

8. Swiss quilt: I am digging into my Bonnie & Camille stash to remake a quilt I made for a gift last year.

9. A pretty pastel C2C blanket for a baby girl due soon...

10. And a baby quilt featuring this elephant print by Tula Pink.

"Outlander" quilt

I have been an Outlander fan for over 20 years now as I first started reading the books when I was pregnant with our twin boys, so I couldn't resist buying some of the fabric range by Andover when it was released a few years ago. 

I bought the "Outlander Stones" panel along with a few half yards of the coordinating prints.

This is the first time I have used a panel for a quilt so I started by looking online for some ideas on using them as quite a few of the fabric manufacturers have free patterns available using their panels.

My initial plan was to include a few of the Thistles by Elizabeth Hartman so made 4 of them to go along the sides of the 25 x 40" ish panel.

And then used the crest fabrics to make a kind of piano key border along the top and bottom of the panel, with the main grey print for corners.

The green border was added after I calculated that I still had enough of it for the backing. 

The quilt was longarmed at my LQS in a lovely swirly design.

After quilting, I bound it in an olive green solid.

Can't wait to cuddle up on the couch with this quilt and read the 9th book in the Outlander series when it is released later this year...

Tula Pink Anchors Aweigh "Zuma" quilt

Tula Pink's Anchors Aweigh quilt pattern has been around for a little while now and when she recoloured it using the new Zuma fabrics I decided to make it!

I used the Aquamarine colourway along with a deep navy blue for the background.

There are about 660 little 2 inch squares in this pattern but it is broken down into sections so it wasnt too hard to keep track.

I think the secret to doing so many small squares like this is to sew in rows, press alternate rows left or right and then nest seams as most of mine turned out ok by doing this.

It was quite hard to cut into these gorgeous fabrics as the squares are so small but the effect is amazing.

The finished flimsy - my top and bottom borders are narrower so this is about 90x80".

This was longarm quilted at my LQS - Rainbow Patchwork and I used my favourite blue backing which goes perfectly with all Tula fabrics.

So many lovely details in these fabrics.

 The quilt was bound in an older Tula print - Making Waves in navy. 

We went up to my parents place near the beach to take some photos and managed to get a few before my quilt holders went fishing instead...

Big Sky baby "J" quilt

The second of the Big Sky quilts for baby "J" ...

 

This quilt is bound in grey just to make it a little different from the first quilt.

And still has many of the fun fabrics including the cute bear fabric.

And also features some bison.

The backing is also the same as for the first quilt.

Big Sky baby "M" quilt

This is the first of the two "Big Sky" quilts made for twin baby brothers.

I used the Skipping Stones quilt pattern and only made 4 blocks - although in hindsight I should have made 6 blocks to make the quilts larger as babies grow so fast!

As I only had a jelly roll, I have used some coordinating solids to break up the prints.

The fabric is so cute though with birch trees and bears and also some Moose for these little Canadian baby boys!

These are the two quilts together - they are similar but a little different.
