safari

I needed to make a quick and easy quilt with some new fabrics and it didn't take me long to decide on a pattern.
This is the "Follie quilt" pattern that I had pinned by Erica @ Kitchen Table quilting.
I used a combination of some animal prints - zebras, giraffes and elephants!
And I chose the B&W striped binding to go with the zebras on the fabric.
Four binding strips were just not enough to go around the quilt so I added in a snippet of a leopard type fabric to fill in the gap.
I had a piece of pale aqua fabric for the back which wasn't quite big enough either, so pieced a few hashtag blocks using the tutorial by Mollie Sparkles for the 5" blocks, and the one by Becky here for the 10" blocks.
I quilted this using the Serpentine stitch on my sewing machine which only took an hour to do and I really love the pattern it created!
Simba even thinks that the quilt needed some paw prints too:)
This quilt finished at 40x50" which is a great size for a child.
