A few months ago, Pat Bravo released "Indie Folk" which was her latest range for Art Gallery Fabrics, and one of the patterns in the "Look-Book" was an amazing "Fabled" elephant quilt.
I am a huge fan of Pat Bravo fabrics - Indie was one of the first collections I bought when I got into quilting, and I also love elephants so this pattern immediately went to the top of my to-do list!
For my elephant, I chose some of the original "Indie" prints from my stash in similar colours to those used in the pattern.
This was a fairly easy quilt to sew - most of the pieces are simple squares and rectangles with a few HST here and there.
For the tusks I used the Pearl and Gold metallic fabric from Prisma elements also by Art Gallery fabrics.
The binding is also a Prisma Elements print in the Solar quartz colour.
The backing is one of the new Ellas backings by Emma Jean Jansen in the Leaf Grey which matched the linen colour of the background fabric on the front of the quilt.
The original quilt pattern finished at 50 x 60 " but I had enough leftover background fabric to add some side borders to make it a bit wider so that it just goes over the sides of a queen bed.
So gorgeous! Congratulations on your finish!
ReplyDeleteThis is really fun! I stopped in my tracks when you said 'this was easy to piece'... then I realized it was not paper pieced like I assumed. Yay for the FAL finish!
ReplyDeleteFantastic result. It looks wonderful. How fascinating that it is all nearly small squares. Great effect.
ReplyDeleteoooo!! LOVE your elephant! Such terrific colors, backing, and binding choices. It looks absolutely fantastic in that room, too.
ReplyDeleteSo striking. The fabric makes such a unique quilt and Pat Bravo is so talented I always enjoy thumbing through the Art Gallery Look books. Congratulations and thank you for being part of the linky party from all of the 2018 FAL hosts.
