WIP Wednesday - Scrappy DS tripalong quilt.

Way back in January when everyone was Tripping along, I decided that I would make a scrappy Denyse Schmidt Tripalong quilt to use up some of my DS stash.
I am going to make a lap size quilt of 5 x 6 blocks which means I need to cut 180 strips and to my embarassment surprise I actually have more than 180 unique DS prints to use:)
I am planning to use the darker fabrics through the centres of the blocks and have separated out the darker shades to use in each of the 30 blocks.

  1. 180!! That is a wild number of prints for any stash, let alone a single designer -- quite impressive! Can't wait to see how it all comes together ;)

  7. I am impressed! Did you use that information to extrapolate how many different fabrics are in your stash? My mum asked me how many I thought I had the other day, and I really couldn't answer (probably not 180 from one designer though). I love the DS Quilts prints too - I'm so glad we get them here in Australia and NZ - Spotlight is doing something right! Have you seen the latest line that is out in the States at the moment? I have been looking for it here, but it doesn't seem to have arrived yet - I really like it, especially the dots.

  19. I'm always so impressed when bloggers write about specific fabrics.
I know nothing of this type of thing and probably won't!
My fabric mostly comes from yard sales and others giving it to me.
Sometimes I do buy fabric at the quilt shop, but so far only from the reduced room, or a big sale.

  21. Wow, over 180 Denise Schmidt scraps! Impressive hoarding/collecting/saving! The quilt is going to look great. I like the idea of having it semi planned with darks in the middle.
