"Super Zig" - WIP # 2

I saw this amazing "Super Zig" quilt pattern by the "Happy Zombie" a few weeks ago and as I have always wanted to make a zig zag quilt, thought it would be the perfect one to use some of the DS Picnic and Fairgrounds fabrics with. So on Saturday afternoon, I cut into this lovely bundle of fabrics:
I decided to add in an extra column to the original pattern, so cut a few (3 or 4) 4.5 x 8.5 inch pieces from each fabric and arranged them into 6 columns.
The finished size is 200 x 205 cm (approx 82 x 84 inches). Just need to decide how to quilt it now................

They're here................................

At last the long awaited Denise Schmidt Picnic and Fairgrounds fabrics have made their way to Spotlight stores here in Australia. I was a bit worried earlier this week with an impending wharfies strike that they would be sitting in a shipping container for weeks on the docks but I have just been into my local Spotlight store and bought myself a bundle of these beautiful fabrics!
And these are the Australia exclusive fabrics - lots of lovely mustardy yellows and navy  blue to go with the red, green and aqua!
Spotlight are actually having a pillowcase challenge on at the moment - if you make some pillowcases (which will be donated to a local charity) you could win a voucher. These are the ones I took in earlier this week.
Off to play with my new fabrics which have actually arrived before the ones I ordered from the US over a month ago!

Wind Farm quilt finished!

This weekend I managed to finish off the Wind Farm quilt.
I have just done simple echo stitching around the blocks and also in the centre square of each one.

and I was also able to make a couple of pillows using the leftover HST's from the border........

I really love these "Authentic" fabrics.....

Work -in-progress Wednesday #1

I am participating in the Let's Stitch event at Quilt Fabric Delights and the Wind Farm Quilt by Cheryl Goss of Willowberry Designs is one of the many lovely projects that caught my eye.
I have started making the quilt from some Sweetwater "Authentic" FQ which I bought a while ago with a "masculine" quilt in mind:

I love that the HST's which are cut off from the sides of the "wind mills" are used in the border, and that there are a few left over to make a matching pillow cover with.
