The Architextures "Lucky Squares" quilt is in its final stages of being finished - the quilting is done and the binding is made...but our anniversary is looming fast!
So this week I am trying to sew at least some of the maroon binding down each day so as to get this all done by the end of the month!
And I have plans for a label too - I dont usually put labels on my quilts but for such an important occasion such as this, thought I should try and do one. I actually have this piece of a Moda Circa 1934 panel sent to me by the lovely Karen last year which is just perfect for what I need so am probably going to use that - just have to think of something to write on it now...
And I am not quite sure how to go from there - if I sew it to a piece of vliesofix (right sides together) then turn it through, I should be able to remove the paper and iron it onto the quilt, and secure it with some ladder stitching?

Love the binding you've chosen to go with it. It is going to be such a lovely finish.
ReplyDeleteYup, the double sided interfacing should work fine for that, I've done similar, just turn it very carefully as that stuff is so fine, and even with the paper in it tears easily!
ReplyDeleteThe colours are so pretty and I just adore that label!
ReplyDeleteI love that you are using that label! I have usually raw edge applique'd labels, so want to see how you finish it. Such a great quilt!
ReplyDeleteLooks great Kirsten - love the richness of this binding fabric. I also hardly ever label quilts, but if I had such a great label fabric I totally would!
ReplyDeleteIt's going to be great, and that fabric for the label is perfect. I've done it before using a lightweight interfacing, sewn with the adhesive side right sides together with the right side of the label, the cut a slit in the interfacing to turn right side out, iron down and ladder stitch just like you described. It worked perfectly.
ReplyDeleteIt looks fabulous!
ReplyDeleteIs the binding a deep purple? That's going to be so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLove the colours on this one! What a great anniversary present!
ReplyDeleteLove that binding color!! I thought it was purple, but burgundy will look awesome too. And that old envelop is so perfect for a label! I would love to get my hands on some of that for future quilts.
