The photo above is of our neighbours Jacaranda tree that was blown over during Sunday night - I dont think many of us in the area slept last that night due to the constant wind and monsoonal rain!
And this was what the same lovely Jacaranda tree used to look like when it flowered in November each year - they think that it was over 100 years old. It is sad that we will no longer see it at the end of our street as it is the tree the kids stand under when awaiting for their school bus in the mornings but at least it didn't land on their house or car when it fell!
Even these Rainbow Lorikeets were trying to stay out of the rain by sheltering under the leaves of the Paw paw tree!
Kirsten.

I'm just glad you're safe, Kirsten! Very sad to see that gorgeous tree go, but circle of life. :-)
ReplyDeleteI always get sad when mature trees get destroyed in a storm. I would miss having that tree in my neighbourhood too.
ReplyDeleteSounds intense! Glad to hear you're ok - a shame about that beautiful tree though.
ReplyDeleteI was wild wasn't it? So disspointing to see Jacarandas felled and horrid palm trees and camphors stand in the same storm. See you tomorrow afternoon.
ReplyDeleteoh too bad about that lovely tree.....
ReplyDeleteGood to hear you escaped the floods but so sad about the tree. We have Jacaranda trees here in Marrakech and they are so beautiful (although a lot of people have allergies to them).
ReplyDeleteAww, so sad about the tree, but good job it didn't hit anything when it went!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you are all ok. Really sad when an old tree dies like that. Hopefully you can plant a new one and see it grow.
