Their new lead singer, an Irish guy named Ciaran Gribbin was really great too! I first saw INXS live back in 1985 when I was at University in Brisbane - they have been around for a while so there weren't many people aged under 40 in the crowd last night.
(I am somewhere in the crowd here as I was in the third row from the front for the encore)
I found another video of one of the songs they played last night - a slower version of "Don't Change" one of my favourite songs by INXS.
The backup vocalists are "The McClymonts" - three sisters from a town about an hour south of here. I also bought a T-shirt and an autographed CD where their songs are sung by various performers - Ben Harper, Dan Sultan, and Rob Thomas to name a few.
So I am going to listen to the CD this afternoon while I finish sewing up my "Granny square" pot holders. I am using some new Denyse Schmidt "Aunt Edna" fabrics, and have a piece of Insul-bright ready to use for them.
I am using Traceys method of making the Granny squares with setting triangles as there is a lot less wastage and very little to trim.

INXS - they're still around? Who knew! I remember 'Beds Are Burning' by them, and still hear it on the radio every now and them. :) Glad you had fun with your husband at the concert!
ReplyDeleteDevil Inside, New Sensation started playing in my head the second I started reading this post! A favorite band in the 80's for sure and I had no idea they were still around. Good idea for using setting triangles... To avoid trouble with bias edges.
ReplyDeleteINXS? I did not know this band is still together. Oh it is so great to hear the old songs :)
ReplyDeleteLovely grannys
They're still alive? Huh, who knew lol Glad you had fun anyway :o)
ReplyDeleteSo fun! Good band, they were a fav of mine in highschool, recall crushing on the then lead singer. I am in love with granny squares, good idea for potholders :)
ReplyDeleteGlad you had fun tho I know nothing...fun blocks you are working on though!
ReplyDeleteglad you had a good time x
ReplyDeleteLucky you - I love INXS. When I first heard them I went into work and told them I liked a group called 'inks' - which is how I thought it was pronounced. They laughed at me so much and told me it was 'in excess'. Giggle.
ReplyDeleteHi Kirsten, they're awesome. I haven't heard them live with the new lead though i was in Prague recently and I'm pretty sure that must have been where the video to never tear us apart was shot.
ReplyDeleteI've done some free wallpapers for the band if you have any use for them http://musicwallpapers.hubpages.com/hub/INXS-Wallpapers-Posters-Free or if you need a different one knocking up for a screensaver you can ask any time
