Tula Pink True Colors Swap

A little while ago, i signed up for the Tula Pink True Colours swap on Instagram, and now that my partner has received her parcel, I can show the mini quilt I made for her.
I used the Geometric Sewing Machine pattern by Kristy @ Quiet Play to make a rainbowy sewing machine.
I posted a sneak peek on IG and was trying not to give too much info on the design I was using...
For the swap we were to mainly use the Tula pink "True Colours" fabrics to create our swap item.
There are also a few other Tula pink fabrics added in for a bit of extra colour.
The back is the Daisy Buds in silver with the Making Waves in Ink for the binding - paper piecing also creates some pretty scraps.
As an extra item, I also made a Goody Goody Binding kit using the great tutorial by Vanessa @ Lella Boutique.
Thanks so much to Kristi @ Sugarndspice77 for hosting this fun swap!
This project was on my FAL Q4 list for 2015 so linking up with Adrianne @ On The Windy Side.

Le Challenge: EPP Modern Hexie pillow

This months theme at "Le Challenge" was "method" so I have used the EPP method to make some lime green fabric hexagons.
I then arranged them in a stylized Christmas tree design and quilted them using the Modern Hexies tutorial by Nicole @ Modern Handcraft.
I marked out my quilting lines with a hera marker before stitching and I just love the effect created by the simple quilting!
I found a fun Christmas print for the back of the pillow which went well with the red binding.

Aussie Supertote

One of my favourite bag designs is the Super tote by Anna @Noodlehead, so when I needed to sew a gift for a friend travelling from the USA, this was the pattern I decided to do.
For this tote, I have used some lovely fabrics from Robert Kaufman's Under the Australia Sun range including the Gum blossoms, Gumnut leaf and Wattle Leaf prints.
It took a while to cut all of the pattern pieces out and quilt the bag panels but once that was done it was quite quick to put the bag together.
The bag has the Gumleaf print on the front pocket and on the back, with the other fabrics as accents.
For the straps and gusset, I used a lovely golden brown Bella solid in "Hay" which almost looks like tan leather.
This is such a roomy bag and perfect to use for carry-on luggage as you can fit so many things in it.
I actually have almost enough of the fabrics here to make another bag, although I may need to piece the back panel.

Scrappy Pineapple mini quilt

We have already had quite a few hot days here in Australia so for this Scraptastic Tuesday I have made a cute pineapple mini quilt which is just perfect for summer.
I used the free mini pattern here on the Dear Stella site.
To make this mini, I went through my yellow fabric scraps and found enough to use, even fussy cutting a few of the prints.
And did some cross hatch quilting to finish it off which gave it a bit more of a "pineapple" look.
Then bound it with a lime green spot.

A Scoop of Strawberries tote

A few weeks ago I pattern tested the cute "Scooped" quilt for Samantha @ Missy Mack Creations.
And I have used these blocks to make up a summery tote bag.
I had sewn the 3 blocks I made from the "Scooped" pattern into a panel which was just perfect for the front of this bag.
I used a mix of prints from Bonnie and Camille and the new strawberries from "Hello Darling" were just perfect for these sweet ice cream blocks.
This tote design is based on the Noodlehead "Poolside Tote" but with a few modifications to accommodate the panel.
I lined the bag in a colourful print and have added in a zippered pocket.
